Do You Have Any Questions For Us?
Typically our customers – especially first-time customers – have questions before they rent or buy a refrigerated van from us. Many of these questions are recurring, so we have compiled a series of the most frequently asked ones. If you don’t see an answer to your specific question, you can always reach out to us and get the answer you’re looking for.
Can I purchase my rental if I like it?
Yes, we have a limited amount of refrigerated vans for sale. Please contact us to find out more about the CoolVans that are available for purchase.
Can I rent a CoolVan long-term?
You can rent our vans for as long or short as you need them. Call or visit us for a custom rate quotation.
Am I able to use my own insurance?
Yes you can use your own insurance as long as your policy has the correct coverages. Our refrigerator vans are considered commercial vehicles and therefore your policy must cover commercial vehicles. Please consult your insurance policy coverage before use with any rental Vehicle.
Can I plug my CoolVan into a normal electrical outlet to run the cooling system?
Just like your home refrigerator our trucks require a 115v 20amp dedicated service in order to run on standby mode. You simply plug the detachable plug into the van and then into the designated outlet. For questions and further instructions do not hesitate to contact us.
Is there an age limitation to rent a CoolVan?
Yes there is an age requirement for renting a CoolVan. Our CoolVans rental insurance policy requires that individuals driving our commercial vehicles must be aged 25+ for liability and collision coverage. For more information or exceptions please contact us.
Can I rent a CoolVan with a G2 Ontario licence?
No, as per the CoolVans rental insurance policy, only individuals with a full G class licence or comparable one can rent vehicles due to liability and collision coverage limitations. Give us a call if you have any further questions, we would be happy to assist you!
Can I rent a CoolVan with an out of province, U.S.A. or international licence?
Yes, as long as your licence is comparable to the Ontario 'G-class' licence level. Please consult us for any questions concerning licence equivalency before renting a CoolVan.
What are the temperature ranges on CoolVans?
Whether you are transporting a nice hot meal or ice cream our CoolVans operating units can go from temperatures of -18 degrees Celsius to +18 degrees celsius.
What type of gas does a Cool Van take?
Cool Vans use regular unleaded gasoline.

"Rented from Cool Vans this past weekend for a catering operation at a large music festival. We received our vehicle cleaned top to bottom, inside and outside. The cab even smelled like berries! The vehicles are the traditional white cargo vans. You lose a few inches of space from the floor, walls and roof but that's obviously for insulation. The interior appeared to be stainless steel and with those bumps to keep items from sliding around.
Runs off the van engine while commuting and they provide you with a power cord that will connect to any basic 15/20 amp connection. The temperature control is in the cab of the van. Although it's obviously not a "walk in", but it's like having a mini walk in fridge with you on site. Pack wisely based on your needs but they have the side doors as well."
